It's Been AWHILE!!!

Well what can I say...life has been busy! I think I use that as my excuse all the time! lol. Not sure how else to explain myself. It's not that I haven't made cakes, I've made MANY!! I really need to get my butt in gear and post all of them. I am very proud of my accomplishments this summer with over ten weddings and numerous birthday and theme cakes, oh and some new adult cakes. I've learned new techniques and tried new tools. It's great to look back and reflect on where I started with cakes, not even having it in mind that I would ever create this many cakes in my life! It all started with my son's 1st birthday cake just under 2 years ago and now I have created over 100 cakes...I should count them one day! :D
I will post a few now and then when I get the chance, which hopefully will be soon, I will post the rest. Thanks for stopping by and checking out my cake creations!! :)

Some of 200 Canada Day Cupcakes made in red velvet and french vanilla for Tartan (an oil company to donate to the Canada Day Celebration up in Conklin.

The picture of this cake is unfinished!  The groom forgot the flowers and I could not make it there the next day to put on the flowers.  The flowers were suppose to be turquoise gerbera daisies, which would've looked awesome on this cake!!  But, the next day the flowers were forgotten about again and they improvised with some small white daisies out of the bride's flower bed.  They did not get a picture of the cake, so this is all I have.  A little disappointing, but whatever.  Anyways...the rubber boot and moccasin I thought were such a cute idea.  I molded these out of fondant.  The rubber boot was to symbolize the groom being from the East Coast and the moccasin to symbolize the bride being of Metis status.

Unisex Baby Shower Cake.  The client designed the cake.  I have never had such detailed instructions before.  She was very thorough!  I love her ideas though!!
"thanks for the wonderful cake, it was yummy and everyone liked the design. Good job."

Seashell Cupcake Wedding.   Chocolate, Butter Yellow and Carrot Cupcakes with a Carrot Cutting Cake.   I absolutely love the cake topper.  It is so pretty!! :)

Not my design, but I found it on google and really loved it!  Not sure who to give credit to.  The whole cake was french vanilla and I really enjoyed making this one!

I made this Power Rangers cake the day after we got back from holidays.  To be honest, I actually forgot all about this cake and I had to really rush it.  IT was for a friend, which I am glad!  She still loved it and the birthday boy got a giggle out of it!
"Totally loved the cake!"

I LOVE Littlest Pet Shop!!  I wish they were around when I was 5!!  I made all the cupcake pics out of cardstock and dressed them up with a couple of flowers at the bottom.  A great idea for a kids birthday cake.  The kids can enjoy the cuppies and later on the family can have the cake.
"Zoey so loved her cake!!!! Thanks so much! "

My first experience with a square wedding cake.   I finally got my pans in just in time for this one.  It was a pleasure to make a cake for a friend I hadn't seen or talked to in probably 8 years.   Turns out she doesn't even live that far away either!  I had a chuckle when I saw the cake topper she picked out.  It reminds me of when we were in England together just over 10 years ago.  Fun Times...  The pedestals were a heirloom passed down from a few generations and I am glad we could fit them into the design she wanted.   I had never used pedestals before, so I was a bit iffy, but they make the cake look amazing!!

Well, thanks for being patient with me.  I will post some more later on.  Thanks!!

More Cakes...

It's so amazing how time can so quickly fly by and I don't even realize it!! Two months have past since I last blogged and I was suppose to get this place caught up...welcome to my life! lol. Three kids, a home, bookkeeper for my husband's business and cakes no wonder I have no time to blog! Anyways, here are some more cakes that have been sitting on my computer waiting to be posted.
Last minute baby shower cupcakes for a little girl named Hayden. My cousin's wife came to me the day of the shower and really wanted some and I had extra cupcakes from an order the same weekend. It all worked out great in the end!
Baseball themed birthday with chocolate molded accents. The blue and yellow matched the jerseys.
I have been wanting to make chocolate leaves for a while and when a friend of mine's birthday came up, I jumped on the oppurtunity! This cake was so delish! I made red velvet cake, which was my first time making it, it had SMBC filling with fresh wild blueberries and the chocolate leaves. I had just gone blueberry picking for hours the day before and they were so good inside the cake!
Another first for this littlest pet shop cake. I wanted to try the color-flow technique and I love the end result! It was at some points hard to keep a steady hand, but I really like how the butterfly is so shiny and colorful.
Motorcycle Cake. I don't know anything about motorcycles, so this cake probably is missing some main components, but overall it still looks like a bike to me! :)
A birthday cake for my sister's mother-in-law. She gave me free reign on the cake, which by the way I LOVE!! I wanted to do a gift cake, they look so neat and I don't really know the birthday girl, so this could be personallized with her favorite colors and B for Bonnie!
These are my September cakes, I will try and get some more blogged and finally catch up!!

Life is...well Life!!

So It's been some time since I last blogged! I just have been so busy with life that coming on here was last on my list. I still have things sitting that need done, but I am so sick of doing dishes, that this is my break from reality!

So many events have come and gone and with that many tasty treats have been made. All of a sudden I am becoming swamped with cake orders. The birthdays are so much fun because I love seeing the look on the child's and parent's face when I deliver the cake. It just makes everything sooo worth it!

Here are the pics of the cakes I've done in the past few months...

A 1st bithday is always a special one and I love the smash cake idea! I'm always searching google images and came across smash cakes...soooo fun!

A little girl in my daughter's playschool class loves littlest pet shops. Her mom came to me with a pic of this exact cake, so I made my attempt to recreate it and I think it came out beautifully!! Fondant is a lot of fun to work with.

Made for 2 little girl's ballet recital. I saw them later on and they told me they froze the slippers to save for another time...how sweet!

A very mini tractor cake, this is becoming a all-time favorite! This one would only serve about 2-3 people.

Alyiva is following in my foot steps, everything that comes out of her mouth is cake this and cake that. She created this cake all by herself and decorated as well. I think it is wonderful!! Mommy is very proud of you, Alyvia!

Strawberry Shortcakes with real whipping cream and homemade lady fingers made for my Dad's 60th birthday. Boy, oh, boy were these tasty!! Actually, I want one right now!

A neat idea I found on someone's website, can't remember who. These are cake truffles and oh, so addicting! They would make great favors for any occasion, but very time consuming.

My niece, Teila's 1st birthday cake! My sister loves flowers and I tried to incorporate the look of Teila's bedroom into her cake. I love the way this one turned out.
My 1st attempt at a black forrest cake. Looks good, I hope it tasted good too! I didn't get to have a slice of this one, but I will make it again, quick and easy and very hard to resist!

Star Wars, well let's just say, I've never watched an episode or movie, I really hate Star Wars. So when it came to this particular cake, I was very worried! Yoda was a real pain in the ass! Because of the detail, I actually made fim 3 times, before I was satisfied with the final product. I am very surprised how well he came out and I think the cuppies turned out super. Customer was extremely happy and that's what really maters...I actually have a Transformers Cake coming up thanks to this customer!
My friend's husband's birthday. This cake was fun and super easy. It tasted great too!
Austin, my oldest boy's 8th birthday (party for his friends). He wanted the black pearl and this comes no where near that, but it still is a pirate ship and he was thrilled with the outcome. This cake was way too big for the size of the party, next time I will down size, this could have fed 50 people!
I really love this cute butterfly cake my assistant, Alyvia choose for her friend, Tialandis's birtday. Alyvia loves sprinkles and wanted to incorporate them into the cake. I'm not a huge fan, but hey, kids love them!! Alyvia put all the sprinkles on the mini cupcakes and she did an awesome job!
These 2 sesame street cakes were a ton of fun to make, especially cookie monster! I homemade all the cookies and made the eyes from fondant. These both were very easy, I think because I really enjoyed making them, the time went by quickly. When I met up with Seth's mom, I showed Seth through the car window his cookie monster cake and his eyes just popped! That was such a great moment, I usually don't get to see the look on the child's face and I'm glad I did this time!
Bridal shower cupcake minis. White, chocolate and carrot cake. The carrot cake with cream cheese icing were delectable! My sister and I must have eaten 4 each! I had a blast icing these, they were very summery and fun. I found of later the bride to be couldn't eat any because she's lactose intolerant and can't have butter, so I'd love to make her something that she can eat...must find a recipe!
My second wedding cake and I love it!! Completely homemade, which I am very proud of! It was white and chocolate cake filled with french buttercream and iced with swiss meringue buttercream and then covered with homemade fondant. The couple are friend's of mine and my husband and loved it!
I am really excited for this summer because I have 4 other weddings to do. Two are cupcake wedding cakes and there is one 3-tier and 0ne 4-tier cake as well. I got a new mixer, a fance kitchenaid one, which makes everything much easier and less time consuming! I don't know how I did it before with that old hand mixer!
